Two blood collection tubes with coloured caps, one pink and one orange, are placed on a black surface with medical packaging blurred in the background.

In-house laboratory

We can carry out numerous different tests in our onsite laboratory, and are usually able to return results the same day

Laboratory tests

  • Biochemistry –  this checks for problems with organs such as the liver and kidneys, and metabolic issues such as diabetes.
  • Haematology – this looks at the red and white blood cells which could show up issues such as infection, anaemia and some cancers.
  • Blood tests to check for thyroid levels.
  • Pancreatic lipase to test for pancreatitis.
  • And many more including electrolytes, blood clotting and some infectious viruses.
A fluffy cat with light brown fur and striking bright blue eyes looks up, its face in focus against a blurred background.

Acupuncture has been suggested to support the treatment of many conditions, such as:

  • Includes dipstick test, urine specific gravity (which shows us how well the kidneys can concentrate the urine) and microscopy.
  • We can check for things such as blood, protein, glucose, bilirubin, ketones, pH, bacteria and crystals in the urine.

We can take small samples of your pet’s fur or skin and look under the microscope to check for parasites such as mites and lice.

We offer faecal egg counts for reptiles, where we look at faeces under a microscope to calculate how many worm eggs per gram are in the faeces.

This can help us in giving advice on when and what product to use to treat worm burdens

There are some tests that can only be performed at an external laboratory.

If your pet needs one of these, we can send the sample to an external laboratory using a courier service, with most results typically available within one week.
