Referrals
Should your pet require more complex support, we have a great working relationship with external referral practices
Helping your pet access further support
For particularly complex cases, we may require advice from, or suggest referral to, veterinary professionals who have more expertise in a particular area of care and may have additional qualifications.
Referral teams are made up of vets and nurses with further training in different sectors of veterinary medicine and therefore have the most up-to-date skills and knowledge.
This set-up mirrors that within human health care, where you initially see your GP and if they cannot diagnose or treat you effectively they will refer you to someone who can.
Examples of why we may refer our patients include orthopaedic surgeries, CT and MRI imaging, complex ophthalmic conditions and surgeries, and critical intensive care.
Following treatment at a referral centre, we can usually continue any patient aftercare from our practice.
We work closely with a number of referral centres within Cornwall and further afield, to ensure as a profession we can provide the best care to your animal. For more information, please contact our team on 01736 362215.
